Who Are The Best Female League of Legends Champions?

Riot Games excel in their character design, world-building, and characters to suit all gameplay styles. League of Legends currently boasts a strong roster of 120+ characters and counting. They have no shortage of strong, powerful women with over 60 different female champions to choose from.

It's no secret that League of Legends has plenty of female champions that have stolen the hearts of their devout player base! From the beautiful Ahri to the regal Fiora, there's something to suit every individual player's tastes and personal preferences.

All female champions in League deserve their chance in the spotlight. But these are just 15 of the best female characters in Riot Games' popular MOBA, League of Legends.

Lux, the Lady of Luminosity

Often considered the poster girl for League of Legends with her sheer number features on promotional material, Lux is one of the most instantly recognizable female LoL champions. Bright, colorful, and always looking on the bright side (quite literally), Lux is a beloved champion adored by veteran players and beginners alike.

Her abilities are relatively easy to master. She has a root, a shield, a slowing ability, and a short cooldown laser beam Ultimate, which all make her a versatile champion in both Mid lane and Support. Especially in the late game, she has excellent wave clearing potential with her powerful Ultimate and strong E ability.

Miss Fortune, the Bounty Hunter

Misfortune is what players will feel if they come under her firing line! Otherwise known by her real name Sarah Fortune, MF is a Bilgewater captain famed for her beauty in the port city filled with hardened criminals. A popular female champion among fans, Miss Fortune is a sought-after choice for ADC in Bot lane due to her sheer damage output.

Miss Fortune has plenty of burst damage in her arsenal. Her E, Make It Rain, is incredible at harassing the enemy during the laning phase with consistent slowing on-hit effects. This can snowball into more damage when combined with her Ultimate or another champion's crowd-control ability.

Illaoi, the Kraken Priestess

As the Prophet of an Elder God and a constant looming presence in Bilgewater, Illaoi is a powerful female LoL champion most often seen in Top lane. Anyone playing against her will face the wrath of the Kraken, as they must constantly dance around the tentacles she summons. Her E ability, Test of Spirit, drags the players' ghostly soul in, leaving them at the mercy of her on-hit slow.

The Great Kraken's blessing bestows Illaoi with the power to summon ghostly tentacle apparitions that will spawn around the map, swinging at victims of her Harsh Lesson. Illaoi has great self-sustain, as her health is restored for every enemy champion hit.

Lulu, the Fae Sorceress

Power can come in small packages! Lulu is a short Yordle mage with a playful streak and a mischievous side. She is known for conjuring illusions and spreading enchantments while roaming around Runeterra, accompanied by her small fairy companion Pix.

Lulu is a female champion linked to the Support role, using her enchantments to buff her allies in battle. This fae sorceress can shape reality in her favor, polymorphing the enemy into an adorable critter and thus negating their abilities. Her Ultimate, Wild Growth, bends the forces of nature by enlarging her chosen ally, buffing their health and knocking up any nearby enemies. Don't let her size fool you! Lulu is one of the strongest LoL female champions when played right!

Katarina, the Sinister Blade

Katarina is another original female champion in League of Legends, released in 2009. As a well-known Noxian assassin from the house of Du Couteau, Katarina is a deadly mix of beauty, grace, and lethality. Earning her nickname of the Sinister Blade, Katarina can dash and bounce between her enemies, dealing serious damage.

If an enemy she's damaged dies near her, her ability cooldowns are shortened dramatically with her passive Voracity. If she picks up a dagger she's thrown, she can dash through nearby enemies, dealing bonus damage. She will not hesitate to execute enemies caught amid her beautiful whirlwind of serrated daggers in her Death Lotus blade dancer Ultimate.

Ahri, the Nine-Tailed Fox

Connected to the mystical power of Runeterra, Ahri is an iconic fox-like Vastaya, an ancient race of demi-humans connected to the Spirit Realm. In the old League of Legends tutorial, she used to be one of the first female LoL champions players would come across and unlock, instantly making her a fan-favorite with her coy personality and captivating looks.

Traditionally played in Mid lane as a Mage, Ahri can reshape magic into raw energy orbs she wields against her opponents, absorbing their life essence and regaining health upon champion takedowns. Ahri's strength lies with her E ability, as she blows a kiss and charms the nearest enemy it collides with. They will walk harmlessly towards her, allowing her to inflict an onslaught of Foxfire and fury upon them.

Jinx, the Loose Cannon

Seemingly inspired by the iconic Harley Quinn from the DC universe, Jinx is a charming character brought to life in the Netflix animated series Arcane. Lovable, destructive, with a dash of crazy, Jinx is a firecracker with signature blue hair, wielding the devastating combo of her rocket launcher and minigun.

Jinx's signature Q ability allows her to switch between her two weapons, Pow-Pow (her minigun - the default weapon) and Fishbones (her explosive rocket launcher with shark teeth). A Good Jinx player will know which weapon suits the situation. Fishbones is typically used for AoE damage but uses a lot of mana. Pow-Pow is better for kiting enemy champions and securing objectives like towers. Jinx is definitely a loose cannon, as her global Ultimate Super Mega Death Rocket can wreak havoc from the other side of the map!

Ashe, the Frost Archer

Ashe is the archetypal frost archer and an original League of Legends female champion. As the reincarnation of the powerful Frejlord, Ashe commands the most populous horde in the North, tapping into her lineage magic to wield the bow of True Ice.

Her passive Frost Shot mean all her basic attacks slow her targets, dealing increased damage. Her basic attacks allow her to eventually cast her Q ability, Ranger's Focus, increasing her attack speed and transforming her basic attacks into a slowing flurry of arrows. Ashe's endless onslaught makes it impossible for enemy champions to approach her. Paired with the intense slow from the Imperial Mandate Support item, Ashe's slowing W and Ultimate see incredibly short cooldowns guaranteed to stop the first enemy hit in their tracks.

Evelynn, Agony's Embrace

In League of Legends, Evelynn is regarded as one of the hottest female champions with her seductive succubus-like appearance. As a femme fetale, Evelynn lures in her prey with her carefully-crafted façade of the human female form. Thriving on sheer lust and pain, Evelynn unleashes her demon form to satiate her hunger.

Evelynn excels at being a Jungler, using her stealthy Demon Shade passive to become invisible and sneak up on her unsuspecting prey. While in stealth, Evelynn can use her W ability, Allure, to curse any enemy champion in her sights, causing her next spell to charm her target. She has great mobility with her Ultimate, Last Caress, which allows her to make a quick bsckwards getaway if a teamfight goes south.

LeBlanc, the Deceiver

LeBlanc is a powerful sorceress and the matron of the ancient cult operating in Noxus, the Black Rose, home to mages that practice the dark arts. Masterful queen of illusions and known as the Deceiver, Leblanc can reshape her magic to suit her whims and desires, even creating a Mirror Image of herself.

Most often seen in Mid Lane, LeBlanc has excellent mobility alongside her deadly burst damage with her Distortion power. She dashes to a target location, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies. Distortion can be recast to teleport Leblanc to her starting location. This ability can be combined with her Ethereal Chains, which deal damage to the first enemy hit and tethers the target if the chains stay attached for 1.5 seconds.

Sona, Maven of the Strings

Sona is one of the best female champions in League of Legends, excelling as a Support. She's a highly-regarded virtuoso of the stringed etwahl, speaking only through her graceful chords. Inspired by the Chorus from Greek mythology, Sona plucks her harmonies to soothe her allies and attack enemies with surprising vigor by slowing them or negating their healing with an empowered Power Chord.

Sona has incredible sustaining abilities, providing her allies several buffs to their kit, like movement speed bonuses and attack damage buffs. Her W ability, Aria of Perseverance, is to heal her allies and grant them a shield with her melody bonus.

Fiora, the Grand Duelist

Fiora, the Grand Duelist, is one of the best female champions in League of Legends. Her elegant features and poised stance all nod towards her noble birth, with a hint of steel behind her eyes. She is the head of House Laurent and an extremely gifted swordswoman, with her entire playstyle intertwined with her duelling capabilities.

Fiora is a complex female League character to master and is almost always played in Top lane. Riposte Fiora parries all incoming damage for a short period, before stabbing in a direction. If Riposte blocked a CC ability, this will be reflected onto the enemy. Fiora's aptly named Ultimate, the Grand Challenge, is her greatest strength. It marks four vitals on a selected enemy champion. If she manages to strike all four vitals or the enemy dies, Fiora and any nearby allies regain most of their health in a few seconds.

Camille, the Steel Shadow

Poised and deadly, Camille is the definition of elegance. Her augmented Hextech body allows her to exercise precision as the Principal Intelligencer of Clan Ferros in Piltover. She is one of the hardest League of Legends champions to master with her complicated kit, so practice makes perfect!

Her augmented body gives her the upper hand over opponents with incredible mobility and true damage capabilities. Camille's passive Adaptive Defenses grant her a shield equal to the percentage of max HP against the enemy's damage type while hitting an enemy champion with a basic attack. Akin to a ballerina, Camille can gracefully leap into the air with Tactical Sweep, dealing damage to any enemy champions standing in her way.

Vayne, the Night Hunter

Vayne is a ruthless monster hunter seeking her next prey, stopping at nothing to track down the demon that brutally murdered her family. Her signature weapon is the crossbow attached to her wrist, and she strikes from the shadows with a flurry of silver bolts.

Her passive, Night Hunter, allows her to stalk towards her next victim, gaining extra Move Speed when moving towards enemy champions. Vayne has considerable mobility with her Q ability, Tumble. She rolls in a direction which empowers her next basic attack to deal bonus damage. With her W, Vayne can stack basic attack marks on enemy champions. Her third consecutive hit deals bonus true damage based on the target's maximum health. You don't want to be within firing range of Vayne's crossbow!

Akali, the Rogue Assassin

Akali is one of the hottest female champions in League of Legends, with her stunning decorative tattoos and prowess in close-quarters combat. Previously a member of the Kinkou Order, Akali has since abandoned them. She now prowls alone as a rogue assassin, determined to defend Ionia at any cost.

Akali can partake in various roles but is commonly seen in Mid and Top lane. Her W, Twilight Shroud, drops a smoke shroud. While inside, Akali becomes invisible, only being revealed when casting abilities. She has intense mobility, able to dash and move between several enemies, excuting enemies as she strikes with her Ultimate, Perfect Execution.
