Embark Games' new FPS, The Finals, is taking the world by storm, set to rival the likes of Valorant and Counter-Strike 2. Despite recently being released in December 2023, it's already amassed around three million active players.

Like other popular multiplayer titles, your display name in The Finals sets you apart from other players as a way to flex your personality. However, when you first create an Embark Studios account to play The Finals, you're automatically assigned a randomized username consisting of two words.

If you're tired of the default basic username and want something more unique and "you", you can always change your name in The Finals with little difficulty. Follow our simple step-by-step guide to get started.

The Finals: How To Change Your Name

Changing your display nickname requires players to have an Embark Studios account, so ensure that's all fully set up and linked before you start. The path to change your name in The Finals is not a lengthy process and shouldn't take longer than a few seconds of your time.

Just follow the simple steps below to get started. Changing your name in The Finals is, thankfully, free, and you can change it once every ten minutes.

  1. Head to Embark Studios' official website and log in using your existing credentials. You can choose to sign in with your preferred platform, whether that's your PlayStation, Steam, or Xbox account details.
  2. Once logged onto your Embark account, go to your Profile page. You can find it by clicking your name in the top-right corner of the screen and selecting "Profile" from the drop-down menu.
  3. Press the "Edit" button next to your existing name and enter your new desired name into the textbox.
  4. Finally, click "Save," and your new name will be available in-game when you next launch The Finals!

Unfortunately, for now, there are no ways of changing your display name while you're in-game or as a client, and it can only ever be done from the official Embark Studios website. 

Please be aware that you cannot change the random sequence of numbers that follow your display name, as these are a unique identifier for your account, similar to a Riot Games ID for League of Legends, Valorant, or other Riot Games titles.
